Our Mission
MushMaps was created with a single vision: To build an inclusive, professional and transparent future for the field of psychedelics.
As legal and social attitudes towards entheogenic and medicinal psychedelics continue to shift, MushMaps is here as your first port of call for a complete and comprehensive perspective of this increasingly meaningful industry. The continuation of psychedelic medical research and breakthrough findings are continually perpetuating an entire new frontier of therapeutic treatments for conditions such as depression, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, mood disorders and so much more.
Whether you’re a consumer, a business, or just interested in learning more about psychedelics, the decision to engage at any level should be an informed one, and that’s where we come in. Through connecting people worldwide, we aim to not just amplify the conversation around psychedelic healing, but to help shape it.
Advocacy
As this industry moves forward, it is vital to give back to the communities that led us here. That’s why we’re proud supporters of Chacruna’s Indigenous Reciprocity Initiative as well as The Ancestor Project. Our business model is also firmly rooted in the seven principles of the North Star Ethics Pledge.
Our Values
Integrity
We believe that companies working within the field of psychedelics have a responsibility to support the foundations and traditional ecological knowledge on which their work is founded. Through fostering environmental wellbeing, strengthening food security, campaigning for land rights activism and cultivating economic resilience, we can ensure integrity remains at the forefront of this ever expanding industry. It should never be about personal gain.
Inclusion
Psychedelic medicine should be accessible for all, regardless of race, gender, religion, physical ability, economic background or any other way in which one may or may not choose to identify. We want to challenge the unacceptable imbalance across the mental health and medicinal industry, particularly for historically marginalized groups. The safe, legal and informed use of psychedelics has the power to transform the entire mental health industry, allowing more people to gain access to the treatment that is right for them.
Action
Words are just that unless put into practice. We strive to advance research into the benefits of medical and personal entheogenic consumption, alongside supporting entheogenic causes and initiatives such as decriminalization, adult-use legalization, education, justice for those impacted by the War on Drugs, and social equity in the marketplace. With the world of commercialized psychedelics in its infancy, we have a real opportunity to forge a landscape that is more ethical, equal, and fair for all. Let’s not waste it.
North Star Ethics Pledge
MushMaps is committed to and stands by the seven principles of the North Star Ethics Pledge
1. Start Within
The principle of looking within focuses on the internal semantics and structure that denotes how a team in the psychedelic medicine and therapy world really works. We fundamentally put our focus on personal growth and perpetuate a grounded perspective throughout each phase of our work. It is crucial to remove blind spots, biases, personal motivations, and desires that can disrupt progress and reduce our overall effectiveness. Similarly, we believe it is our responsibility to work ethically and effectively in all situations. For us, everyone’s role is important, ourselves included. This is why we don’t shy away from taking the right guidance from field experts and individuals progressing the field in an ethical and sustainable manner. We consider ourselves a part of the community that we work to improve, and that our development is the first step to effectively growing the community.
At MushMaps, we aim to build strong connections between legal psychedelic providers, entheogenic patients, and the indigenous cultures that gave us these sacraments, in a collective effort to ensure sustainable growth for the psychedelic therapy industry.
2. Study the Traditions
We believe in the importance of traditional knowledge regarding psychedelic medications, psilocybin use for personal development, and related entheogenic ceremonial practices from cultures around the world. Understanding and giving reverence to the historic developments in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy is an important step in securing its future. Without knowledge of these past developments, future growth is impossible. We consider it our responsibility to understand how historic learnings can be translated to catalyze future breakthroughs in the field.
Analyzing the past use of psychedelics and the traditions embedded in their ethereal history gives us a chance to fully listen to the story that these cultures have been trying to tell us. MushMaps sees our responsibility to learn about these peoples’ perspectives and empathic sacrifices in terms of money, time, and resources for the betterment of humanity and to further the psychedelic field. We believe that appropriating attention to these entheogenic and spiritual practices now, rather than during the height of the drug war on indigenous peoples, exposes the fundamental problems with indoctrinating these medicines into Western culture. We hope to perpetuate respect for nature through reciprocity efforts and by giving a voice to the indigenous peoples who gave life to the psychedelics industry today.
3. Build Trust
You can’t help someone fully if there isn’t a relationship of trust. Therefore, since our inception, our team has pledged to ensure that we maintain a trustworthy relationship with community members and professionals in the psychedelic space. We make our intentions as transparent as possible to ensure that there is always a possibility for true and honest discussions, including addressing tough issues, taking personal accountability, and rectifying mistakes. Through ensuring these initiatives, we can positively impact people with our work by considering all possible perspectives of the community to incorporate into our services. For without trust, all is in vain.
4. Consider the Gravity
We understand that the choices we make can have serious impacts on multiple stakeholders in the psychedelic industry. As a company in this emerging space, we pledge to always follow ethical behavior guidelines and to consider the impact of our choices in all situations. Before we make impactful decisions, we must consider the psychedelic field at large, the communities and individuals involved, and all related ancillary aspects. Through crafting a patient-centered approach to healing and keeping the mental health of community members as our top priority, MushMaps strives to keep peoples’ best interests at our focus. MushMaps is committed to ensuring fair and equal access to our resources and patient information, as well as maintaining an affordable advertising platform for all providers and practitioners.
5. Focus on Process
The quality of our user experience improves with the quality of a well-thought-out process. We put great insight into developing a well-defined business plan so that our methods are effective, transparent, and meaningful for our community members. With moral courage as the focal point, we put strenuous effort into ensuring that the process is well-defined and above all, ethical. We ask that people hold us accountable for our actions and help guide us towards developing a strong moral character. If we do what’s right, the rest falls into place.
6. Create Equality & Justice
The psychedelic community can only survive and become part of the zeitgeist if it avoids the pitfalls of injustice and inequality seen in other industries. MushMaps is based on the principles of social justice, the perspective that providing equal opportunities yields best results, and the virtue of acting on the initiatives put forth in our company mission and vision statements. For us, uplifting others is more important than focusing solely on personal progress, which is why we reflect on and perpetuate diversity within our own organization and also the global entheogen community at large. We advocate these values by providing and promoting a structure of inclusion, sustainability, and proper anthropological insight into the perspectives and actions we take as a company.
7. Pay it Forward
We are just a link in the chain. The psychedelic field is vast and requires extensive focus and commitment to become what it has the potential to be. Giving back to the community outshines personal gain for us. We commit ourselves to the community and pledge to aid everyone in gaining the best possible knowledge about the field, from information concerning ballot initiatives and advocacy, to psychedelic learning resources, tools, and research studies that will help shape and develop this flourishing community.
